Holi is a spring festival and also known as the festival of colors, where people reunite and spread the love with the sharing of colors. It is an ancient Hindu religious festival which has become popular with other non-Hindus community too in various part of southern Asia.
The Holi Festival signifies the victory of good over evil, the arrival of spring or end of winter and for many a festive day to meet others, forget and forgive or repair broken relationships.
It is also celebrated as thanks giving for a good harvest.
It is primarily celebrated in India and now Nepal too but in recent years, the festival has spread to parts of America and Few region of Europe as a spring celebration of love and colours.
Holi Celebrations start on the night before a bonfire where people gather, worship, sing, dance and enjoy with the religious work. The very next morning is free for all carnival of colors, where individuals come together and play color with water. The object is known as “Pichkari” is favorite among kids. It is available before a week or two in a market with ample of designs and shapes.
Youth play, chase and colour each other with dry powder and coloured water, with some carrying water guns and coloured water-filled balloons for their water fight.
This one is fair game for everyone, friend or stranger, rich or poor, man or woman, children, and elders.
The water fight is noticed everywhere on this particular festival on the open streets, parks or buildings.
Holi is celebrated at the approach of Full Moon Day (Phalguna Purnima), and the festival date varies each and every year as the date varies.Approximately, it comes in the month of March as per the Hindu calendar, but sometimes it appears in the month of February too.
